Love this......literally took me 1 minute to get connected from my IPAD.....the second one we ordered. Ease of setup and use is amazing. Yes there is a subscription price.....but I think it is a great deal.
I have only had my Dropcam for several months and already caught someone searching my room. The quality of the video is awesome and the night vision is great. Also, the customer service is fantastic! I was having a problem (I thought) and contacted their support team via email, and they are always right there in a timely manner ready to help. Come to fiind out it was something I was doing and not a problem with Dropcam. The product and their customer support is awesome and if I could I would give them ten stars! I love, love, love my Dropcam.
I was excited to try out these cameras but ultimately I could not get them to work consistently. Using DSL 6.0 service and your standard AT&T wireless router, I simply could not get these cameras to connect consistently. I even extended the signal using a wifi extender with no improvement. What little video I could get was jerky and hiccuped continuously. There was also 5-10 second delay from "live".
Perhaps these cameras work better with cable modems and faster broadband speeds but around here 6.0 MBPS is as fast as we can get for now.
You can tell this manufacturer is trying hard, though. The packaging was VERY nice (the boxes and packaging come right out of the apple school of design), the cameras themselves look high quality and "iphonesque" in look and feel. Their iOS app was easy to install and use.
Give them a try-- they might work better for you, but I returned the cameras for a refund.
Gotta go old school and have a tech come out and install cameras now the old fashioned way.
